Polar Bear Faces

Continuing with our theme of polar bears, today I did a polar bear face art with the students, and they turned out super cute. Depending on how the students glued on the eyes and ears, each has its own unique expression. They will be going up on our polar bear bulletin board outside our class.

The materials we used are:

• A paper plate for the face

• A Styrofoam cut for the nose, which I cut to the length I needed them (about 3 inches)

• stock paper for the ear shapes

• black construction paper circles for the eyes and a larger one for the tip of the nose

• Cotton for the fur

• glue

• makeup sponges to spread the glue onto the plate

Here are the steps taken:

1. Pull apart the cotton balls

2. Spread glue onto the paper plate with the glue sponge – excluding the circle which has been drawn on the plate where the paper cup is to be attached

3. Put the cotton on the paper plate

4. Glue the nose by dipping the edge of the cup into the glue

5. Glue the black construction circle onto the end of the cup

6. Attach the eyes onto the cotton above the nose

7. Glue the ears to the back of the paper plate so they peak over the top

8. See me to paint the two white dots onto their eyes
