This week was Bullying Awareness week so the students have been taking about and doing projects about how they show anti-bullying. Today I decided to make a quilt with them were they each make one of the pieces of the quilt. The students did a great job designing their anti-bullying picture on paper first then tracing it onto the stiff sheer fabric with permanent markers. Tonight I will start backing each square and sewing them all together. Here are a few pictures of the students pictures:

Here are all of the pictures laid out in my living room before I begin sewing

Please note:
The bottom right piece has been pixelated as each child signed it. The writing in the middle of this peice says "By Ms. _________'s Grade 1 Class"
The top right two pieces are missing as two students are away, I will go in shortly on Monday to do their pictures with them so they can still be a part of this quilt
There are pieces of tape on each picture with the child's name so I can write the names on the bottom corner of each piece after sewing is complete, to protect the student's identity, the names have also been pixelated.
The center will be a large title piece that I will create at the end. It will say "Don't Bully, Be Kind!"
And here are all the pieces backed and ready to be sewn onto their connecting pieces:

December 21st Update:
The quilt is complete! Here is the final result

Once again the bottom right square has been pixelated, and the bottom right corner of each piece has also been pixelated as this is where the students name were written.
December 23rd Update:
Our quilt is is now on display in the front entrance of our school as a message and reminder to all students and visitors.
