Groundhog Day

It's Groundhog Day and according to Wiarton Willie, spring is coming early!
To celebrate Groundhog Day, I read a story and did a small craft with the students. The story we read was Double Trouble Groundhog Day by Bethany Roberts. One thing my teacher likes to do for reading stories is to use youtube read aloud videos because because often the readers are from different parts of the world and have a variety of accents. This allows the students exposure to the different way people talk and read around the world. The video we used for this book is read by what sounds to be a deaf or partially deaf woman, which was a great way.
After the story was read I introduced the craft: a little groundhog who pops out of a paper cup on a popsicle stick. The picture is not the best and had to be cropped in to avoid the students faces but here is the final result:
