2-D Shape Builds

Today I made shape cards for the students to use in the tangrams to create other shapes. Since we have been working with learning our 2-D shapes, I made cards with simple instructions such as "make a rectangle using 2 squares" for the students can practice using 2-D geometric shapes to make new 2-D geometric shapes.

Here are the cards I used with the students:

I cut up each page so each students got one card and when they were done they switched with another student in the class.

When all the students had done most of the cards, we had some spare time so I allowed the students to create their own pictures using the tangram shapes. Here are some of their creations:
